UMNO IS STILL RELEVANT

May 15th, 2008 + Dihantar oleh admin

Salam to friends and readers.

As I mentioned before, my busy schedule will not be an obstacle for me to write in this blog and read all the comments posted. I thank you all for the constructive comments and reminders as well as criticisms.

Umno has passed 62 years old on May 11 this year and after what had happened following the March 8 general election, the party is still relevant to the Malays and the country.

Umno members are the strength of the party and they are the roots that determine strength of a tree. Without the roots, trees, how big they are, will not last long and would fall. Thus, party members themselves must ensure that Umno continue to be strong and has the confidence of Malaysians to continue to serve.

Politics has its ups and downs and given the March 8 general election result, Umno has to rejuvenate itself to continue championing as well as serving the rakyat, regardless of race and religion. Going back to history, Umno has actually played the important role of steering the country to where it is today.

I consider the March 8 general election result as a lesson to Umno and fortunately, we realised fast and learn from our mistakes and weaknesses. There is nothing wrong to learn from mistakes because that is how we can rejuvenate ourselves.

As such, it is important that party members place party interest above all. Umno needs renewed spirit to face new challenges. Umno members should look at themselves and correct their acts, get close to the grassroots to win their confidence again.

I hope the new spirit would uplift Umno to better position.

Karpal should be more sensitive

Hello wise readers

I would like Malaysians and you my friends who are readers of my blog to give some thoughts on several issues that cropped up the last one week.

I do not agree with DAP chairman Karpal Singh’s statements questioning the rights and powers of Malay Rulers which I consider as ‘over the limits’. This I think would invite disatisfaction among the multi-racial Malaysians.

I think Karpal should be more careful and sensitive in voicing out his opinion on the issue that involved the Sultan of Perak and the state’s Religious Department Director Datuk Jamry Sry.

To me, the Bukit Gelugor MP can be considered as not respecting the Rulers Constitutional Institution thus denying that Malay Rulers are symbol of the Federal Religious Head and Malay states.

At the same time, I am also disappointed at the Pakatan Selangor Government for not reducing the quit rent rate in Selangor as promised in their general election manifesto.

I take this as a blatant lie and cheat on the people of Selangor as voters in the state voted them for the promises they made.

I consider the failure to fulfill the manifesto as an irresponsible act on the part of the three parties - Keadilan, PAS and DAP.

I do not believe the reasons behind their failure to fulfill the promises as they should have studied the situation first before making promises. Manifestos are not merely promises to entice but it should be the objectives to achieve.

In reality, I salute the Pakatan Government of Selangor for their blatant and outright lies and cheats that voters are not, I feel, regreting their actions.
